123 BlocksLaurel Pre-school is a well established provision for under 5’s in Tottington. The group is regularly inspected by OFSTED - the government’s office for standards in Education. A copy of the most recent OFSTED report is available for you to view.

Laurel Pre-school is a committee run group with charitable status. At our Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in the Summer Term, a committee is elected to help administer the group and be responsible for policy making, fund raising, etc. All our committee are par- ents elected by parents - we need ALL our parents to be involved and we value your ideas and help - however you can give it. The group is a registered charity and is financed by fees which are non-refundable except in the case of prolonged illness. Government funding is available for three and four year olds. Fees are reviewed annually at the AGM. Details of fees and funding are available on application. Learn more Information about the roles of the committee

In our happy, friendly environment, structured play and basic early learning skills are positively encouraged under the supervision of our regular, caring and qualified staff. We work to at least Ofsted ratios of adults to children ensuring that each child receives the utmost care and attention.

We accept applications for a Pre-school place at any age. Children may join the Pre-school at the beginning of the term, sometime following their second birthday. This is initially for 2 sessions per week, each of two and a half hours.

What your child will learn

Children will learn to develop their independence and social skills, playing with, and alongside their contemporaries. Some of the activities include painting, gluing, cutting, construction, drawing and imaginitive play. They learn to sit and listen to stories, sing songs or use musical instruments. These promote hand-eye co-ordination, build self-esteem, and encourage self-expression.

During the academic year before they start primary school, they work in small groups with their own keyperson in their own special room. All children are given the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities in line with the DCSF's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
